The Voice Response System (VRS) enables laboratory clients to access test results via a touch tone telephone 24 hours a day/7 days a week. The Voice Response System is a very convenient feature for physicians and their office staff.
The system can be setup with multiple levels of security. For instance, a laboratory may require a submitter code to access the system. In addition, the system will prompt the user to enter a "personal identification number" (PIN). The system may even be configured to require such information a date of birth and patient number.
To take complete advantage of the Voice Response System the Advanced Reporting module must also be implemented in the LIMS.
